Hi, I've read posts that covered this before and I gather the general consensus here is that the ATAVT (vienna) test is not worth trying to practice and that if you can't do it you haven't got what it takes to drive trains.

Personally, I would beg to differ, I feel that anything that leaves me feeling a bit more confident about going into the test is a definite plus and I was hoping that maybe some of the more experienced people here agree and have maybe found a practice method that works?
The reason I ask is that I've practised most of the other tests with good results but this test particularly worries me. If anyone has any ideas how I could ease this concern I'd be pleased to hear.

Some tests you can’t practice for as such, but I think having a knowledge of the format a certain assessment takes is different, and definitely worth taking note of. Equally, there are certain everyday tasks that can aid you in certain tests and help to stimulate your brain....as it were.

Five of us did this test when I did my assessment and every one of us came out and thought we had failed

I will admit, I didn’t do any practice at all for my psychometric... mainly because I was on 12hr shifts, I simply couldn’t find the time to!! But I did do a little research as to what the tests are and what is required. I wouldn’t say I was confident in the tests, but I knew what I had to do... and I passed them 1st time!! I will say though... I watched that video above, and thought ‘ yea that looks easy... ‘ when I did the test..... it seemed a whole lot quicker!!!! I thought I seriously failed that one!!!

My theory for that test is don’t miss the traffic lights, driving a train the most important thing is signals. Last thing You want to do is miss a signal so I told people after just don’t get one wrong with a traffic light in.
