Hi,

I am a qualified Train Manager working for Virgin. I have recently sat the new OPC assessments for a trainee driver post with another TOC. I was successful and I am currently awaiting a DM interview. I am hoping to relocate to Scotland and have also been invited to attend a trainee driver assessment day with First ScotRail. I'm just a bit confused about the tests. If I have successfully completed assessments can I sit them again with another TOC or do I need to wait six months. As far as I am aware, it used to be that the six month rule only applied to people who had failed an assessment centre.

I'm slightly confused, which TOC did you pass your assessments with ? If it wasn't First ScotRail inform them that you have already passed them, and unless they state you need to sit them again which would be unfortunate, but I know TPE have a higher pass mark hopefully that clears it up as you are correct the 6 month rule is only in place if you fail, I've recently passed myself with DB Schenker and am also awaiting a DM Interview, good luck in the future and hopefully you will be successful :D

Hey, thanks for your reply. I sat the assessments with First TPE. I know ScotRail is part of the first group so I'm hoping I shouldn't need to sit them again :) I'll give HR a buzz tomorrow. Best of luck to you as well!

Well you've cracked it then pal, as like you say TPE have the highest grading so you should be fine, and cheers yeah passed last Wednesday did them all in one day seems like ages ago, but as your aware it takes time lol, good thing is you've got them now for 5 years so massive hurdle over come, and cheers pal

Mornin' all - think it's just 2 years for FTPE, unsure elsewhere. Anyone on here clarify that?.

Your results will be valid mate get in touch with HR and tell them you have a pass.
They should check but I had this with my TOC.. Scotrail has a 3 year rule on Assesments passes
