No worries, I just read it and thank you for the reply.

I had the multimodal interview today after the assessment so I guess it’s just one more to go for me then.
Yep pretty much! Congrats on this by the way it’s a huge feat to pass these in itself. The wait for the last interview can be long but worth the wait. I’m currently in this position too, passed all mine 3 weeks ago and got told about the MMI pass the day after I did it which was nice not to have to wait for. Could be soon but also could be months before I hear about booking the DMI.

Hi Both,

I was recently worried about this as I take blood pressure medication as a young hypertensive. With Medication my reading on the day was 148/86 and this was passed fine, I think he mentioned if it was 150/90 or higher for either Systolic or Diastolic it would be flagged for review with BP home readings to be provided, but I passed all fine and now start in 2 weeks time.

Generally seems to be fairly receptive to readings and understanding if you take medication, but I would imagine for a home reading they would want around/below the 150/90 mark resting, deep breaths and sitting still for a time all help lower BP ahead of a home reading.

Best of luck to you both!
Thanks for the information mate. My first number is in the 130s so no worries there but the bottom one hovers around the 95 mark. I’ve started the process with my doctors now so with any luck I might be on meds by the time the medical comes around.

Hope everything goes well for you! Good luck

Hello guys, I have recently passed my stage 2 OPC assesments (Arriva rail london now first rail london) and awaiting my DMI date, now I do see people saying different things about DMI just like with MMI various lenghts and questions. My understanding that they will ask same question as in MMI but not consistently interrupt you like MMI does and that there will be questions about the company and would be that the managers will still be the same with the same criteria as it was with Arriva. I am now getting familiar with first rail london overground operations so I can talk about it but question I have is, has anybody had interview for New cross gate or any other overground depot such as Willesden Junction and could tell me what i should be prepared for? I see that some say its a lot more relaxed and then some people say its a lot more intense?

Hi! I recently passed the group bourdon test, tea occ and trp1&2. Next I will have atavt, wafv and 2 hand coordonation assesments.

The 2 hand coordonation assesment joystick does it have the axes inverted (press up and ball goes down, press left ball goes right etc) or just normal settings?

Also how hard is the path?

And please do not move my post to another one as last time I posted something was moved to one with more than 100 pages and wasn't helpfull.

Thank you!

Left joystick controls up and down, right joystick controls left and right. This would’ve been explained on the pack you should’ve received. The examples shown in the pack aren’t far away from the actual path. You will have time to practice it before doing the actual test. Take your time with the practice test and get used to the joysticks. They’re very sensitive in my experience and I found it easier to grip lower on the stick. When you’re doing the actual test, don’t panic if you go off course, it’ll happen. Just get back on course quickly.

*correction - Left controls left and right, right controls up and down*

Apologies.

That's relieving . Also to get a penalty the ball needs to get completely out or just touch the egde of the path?

I practiced some tests and some of them the ball hto be about 75% out to get penalty.

Wonder how is the real one.

Thank you!

I wouldnt worry too much about the ball going out of the track. It’s more about how you react once it goes out the track.
Did my assessment a month ago and I must have gone over the line couple of times each circuit. Managed to get it back on course straight away each time and I think that’s the key.
Passed with no issues apparently but I was adamant I failed that test as I kept on leaving the track.
Good luck!

That test is quite forgiving, I must've gone out of the path 5-6 times.
Accuracy, speed and how you recover from a mistake is taken into account.

The guy who also did the test with me was far more accurate than me, but also far slower. He was asked to leave after that.

With the dials test, are the dials labelled heat, power, light, oil as opposed to ABCD? Thanks

Thanks for replying! I have some practice test that I did but the ball makes noise when is about 75% out and some tests make noise when ball touches the edges. Both tests manage not the get the whole ball out just touching the edges.

In the real test was making noise when? At the edges or ball was 100% out?

Thank you again!

Yes, each of them have colors of importance.....you have to order them by the importance of the color and if on 2 dials have same color you have to use the number thats on the dial....now it depends if closer to 0 is most important or close to 100. Have to listen to the instruction very clearly as it will get confusing from the middle of the test

I don't remember honestly, but I think you are overthinking it. You get a couple of practice runs to get used to the controls which are very sensitive.
But after a few runs, you get used to it and will naturally get quicker.
From what I remember, there are 2 straights and a few corners to navigate. You can do the straights super quickly which means you can afford to take a little bit more time on the corners.
Just take your time and don't panic/rush and you'll be fine.

Hello guys,

Apologies if this is the wrong section to ask, but does anyone know how quickly SJT result emails are sent after completion, regardless of whether you pass or fail?

There's a saying that when applying for railway jobs, no news is good news. It will vary from time to time for different people. They will get to you eventually.

Yeah, haven’t heard anything yet, it says on the email when completing the assessment, you should get the 2nd shortly after completion, if passed… but thank you for the reply

I have my stage 2 at OPC next Thursday. I have 13 decent answers prepared and am currently memorising them. I am worried about the part before where you have to write them down. How much do you write? Is the time strict? I’m worried they say “okay finish” and I’ve only written 3 out of 6 down

You'll be given a sheet to write them down on. The boxes are small so you'll write maybe 20 words or so about your answer. A few sentences. It's just a brief summary. They will then ask you to explain in more detail about each answer in the interview, so make sure you practise how you would answer.

In mine, the interviewer jumped around between questions so be prepared for that. They might go back to ask you something else about an earlier answer, think they do it to see how you cope under pressure.

Yes just the outline short 2 sentences what u did and what situation, could be something like. ''During fire alarm as a certified fire Marshall I had to safely evacuate the colleagues to the assembly point''. I would say don't even waste time memorising honestly 3 of them in my case they just said lets do hypothetical instead and you had to make up story on spot. Just try to structure them in STAR once actual interview begins they will constantly interrupt you and ask how you felt and why you think that happened.

Hello, does anyone know how I can use the group bourdon tool on a chromebook? It doesn't seem to work for me, alternatively, could anyone print to PDF copies of the SCAAT test and send it to me? Thank you

is this the norm for GTR (southern)? Invited to assessment day in march which was for psychometric tests & computer tests. Come the afternoon the computers weren’t working so not all tests completed, however the test’s examiner said that because the computers aren’t workin, if you pass the tests done in the morning, you’ll be brought back to do the computer tests another day. If you haven’t passed the tests then you have to apply again in 12months. I failed one of the tests and my experience with the Southern process wasn’t professional in my view.

Well if you fail you have to wait 12 months anyway so not sure where the issue is? They normally do the written tests first , if anyone fails them they dont do the computer tests anyway.
They get sent home.
