He's just been sent a link to complete an OPC online assessment with Cross Country. This is the first stage of this application. From researching the forum I think this will be a VSE?

Might possibly be the RAAT test, not the VSE as I've not done that for Cross Country

Hi everyone,
I completed the online RAAT assessment for OCP today on behalf of CrossCountry. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to finish all 34 questions within the 22-minute time limit; I managed to reach question 28 before time ran out. I believe I went too slow at the start, as I was carefully scanning the text to ensure I answered everything correctly.

I'm just wondering, given that I only answered 28 questions, do you think I still have a chance, or should I expect that I haven’t passed and focus on trying again next time?

It's driving me crazy searching the other threads looking for people that made it through without answering all the questions.

A massive thank you to Chris Gresham and the Bug Hunters. The GBT is a massive help to all us hopefulls, it is a fun tool in my mind!

It took me a few trials to realise what I was doing wrong on the SCAAT test, but I am getting there now I understand the rules. Much appreciation to all that have contributed to the making of it

In regards to the Group Bourdon test (concentration test), how do I know if it will be computer based?

I currently have a DFFT test coming up, and want to know how it works? As the practice material theres rather a long read before attempting the actual questions, so want to know if the time with the test involves the reading aswell or if its separate.

I’m currently in a talent pool for a train manager position and was told should a position become available I would just need to undergo the safety critical medical ahead of being offered a position.

I currently take a blood pressure medication to control by blood pressure - I’ve taken it for over 10 years and had no issues with well controlled blood pressure.

Would I fail the medical because I take blood pressure medication?

As long as you declare it and as you say is well-controlled, there shouldn't be any issues.

Thank you for the reply. I would most certainly declare it and would be able to provide evidence of the readings from the 6 monthly checks I get at the GP practice.

I was just worried that taking a medication to control it would fail me at any potential medical.

Morning all, if you are told at a medical (for driver) that you have "met the required standard" is this generally OK and means that you've passed? This was a medical for WMT.

The lady said its ultimately up to the TOC but I wondered if there's any reason WMT may not progress you if you've met the required standard.

Fretting too much on it, you've passed if the occupational health team haven't raised any concerns especially the Head Doctor. There isn't any enhanced medical testing level to pass haha.

WMT should get back to you I believe, relatively soon to confirm. For my own medical with another TOC, same was said and I received the call an 1hr later, to say I'd be starting my course a month later.

Ive been called for a last minute Psyometric Tests with GWR on Tuesday.

I’ve already passed the Psyometric Tests with another TOC in November 2022. So it’s been less then 2 years but more than 1 year.

Does anyone know, if GWR would accept my Psyometric Tests, and I can sit the MMI or will I be expected to reset the tests?

If you’re doing it with the OPC or whoever you are doing it with just let them know and they can check the database and let you know if it needs to be done or not. As you say you need to do the MMI that forms part of the psychometric tests so you would need to go on the day anyway to do that

If I was to accept a role as a shunter driver, but I wanted to apply for a mainline driver role when the opportunity came within the same company, would I have to do psychometric testing again five years after passing them?

I believe this may depend on whether you have a UK Train Driving licence. Don’t take that as authoritative though, others may correct me.

Yes unless the TOC has implicitly said otherwise. Only GA, C2C and EMR I know of recent allow some form of progression from Depot Driver to mainline without any additinal testing I'd you've a clean depot driver record and have worked your way up the list etc. It's not a right to progress at these TOCs like most but those 3 I know you'd not have to resit psychometrics to move to their mainline roles as a depot driver.

Some of these other TOCs I believe may even have mandatory resits of psychometrics for the existing role every X years as a depot driver.

The only thing is, in the past 2 years I have not gained enough experience to answer the final questions, and it will be my last life
Should I risk it or just wait until the future to see if I do gain the experience the answer.. The question I find most difficult is "Tell us about a time you handled an emergency situation" or something along those lines
The fact I only get 1 chance at the MMI ever is only adding more nervousness and anxiousness and will come across during the interview, even though its not how I normally am

It doesn’t have to be work related can be anything that’s happened car crash or anything in your day to day life.
