This is wrong!!
Street names count as road signs, you will need to tick that box if saw one.

The "green man" on a post has to be ticked under "traffic lights".

There is not time limit to give the answers, however I can guarantee the more you dwell the more you are likely to make a mistake in choosing something that actually wasn't there.

Anyone taking these tests, read carefully those instructions!

Please can you tell me if road marking like a no right turn or a 20MPH painted on the floor counts as a road sign?? Also bollards?? Do they count as road signs too???

Lastly if I see a traffic light with a no right turn underneath do I click traffic light and road sign??

This is the test I’m most worried about as I’m hearing conflicting information

I'm going off my experience, I didn't include any street names as they're not road signs as road signs are information easily accessible to a driver at the side or above a road.

The green man will only need to be ticked if attached to a traffic light, as it's not controlling traffic if stand alone and is just a pedestrian crossing otherwise.

This is what I took when I read the instructions and how I followed them and passed to Avanti's enhanced standard.

Each to their own if you disagree but I passed following the information I replied with.

I failed on this also. I didn’t have the most up-to-date practice material which probably didn’t help. I’m due to resit mine next week and have a pretty much identical test that I’ve been practicing on the laptop. Might be worth investing in one for your resit? Don’t get me wrong, my test results have been fluctuating between 50 & 90% but will just hope for the best on the day. I’ve found it useful to say what I see in my head because then I’m not wondering if I maybe saw something.

Can you show me the test you have on your laptop as I’d also like to purchase.

You won't have time to process that much info. It's literally a split second image.

Any traffic lights system whether its illuminated or not = click

Any traffic sign on a pole = click
As far as I'm concerned, road markings and bollards etc aren't signs.

I did mine last week and it was harder than I anticipated. I passed thankfully.

Don't overthink it just now. As I say, it's literally an image which flashes on the screen for under a second. You won't be able to process everything in as much detail as you are asking about.

There are examples on YouTube you can follow for an idea of what to expect.

I will be due to have a medical this autumn to train to become a train conductor.
Today when I went for a health check at my GP practice my blood pressure was high . A new thing to me, but not completely surprising as my previous job was a stressful desk job. Fortunately I will have time this summer for more exercise and losing weight ( the job offer is definitely motivating me)
So my question is, would they pass me if my blood pressure was controlled by medication?

Brief exercise / physical health check - nothing strenuous at all and then a quick background health and medication check. You'll be asked to do a questionnaire beforehand.

Eyesight also includes colour blindness.

How high is "high"? I don't think it is likely to cause a considerable problem though as elevated blood pressure can easily be managed.

As mentioned, plus weight & Height, blood pressure and I also had an ecg

Also, make a note of any meds you've been taking, even things like hay fever tablets, vitamins, etc. You need to be upfront with them just incase your urine comes back with anything funny and you haven't disclosed meds

Question on the medical regarding nicotine and Alcohol.

I'll assume that the alcohol is the usual nothing 24 hours beforehand (I'm not a heavy drinker so not worried there) but if I need to not drink several days beforehand would be good to know before going to a birthday drinks a few days before!

But on nicotine - I use Velo (nicotine pouches), is that an issue for the drugs test or should I also stop those a few days beforehand?
I figured it's usual for some people to smoke or vape but I don't know if these pouches are different for the purposes of a test. Any advice on those would be great (should I go back to vaping for example rather than using them?)

I have passed stage 1 and 2 of the core assessments

However I then had the last OPC test of VPL which I failed have to wait 6 months to apply for southeastern again.
Anyone else failed this test but passed second time? Not sure what was missed, I see the extra train then the changing of colour and missed stops. Someone mentioned half circles

Was told I missed errors. Very gutted on the day as next stage was mmi but know next time I will be ready. Any advice would be greatly received and experience doing test second time round in tonbridge

Alcohol yes, aim for nothing 24h beforehand. And probably don't go on a massive bender either even if it ends 24h beforehand!

Nicotine no issues - loads of staff who are smokers or quitting. Maybe just mention the pouches in passing, but they probably won't bat an eyelid.

I failed the TCT last year and was hoping for a better attempt this time but mot feel like I’m fighting a loosing a battle. I think I have got the answers correct but only managed 14 out of the 40.
Whats others experiences with the TCT?

Hi everyone, I’m new here and looking for some help and advice. I have an assessment with Southeastern for a trainee train driver role in a few days.

Has anyone recently attended this assessment? If so, could you share some information about how the day went, the tests involved, and the order in which they were conducted? I would greatly appreciate any insights.

There was 12 of us on the day. Got split into 2 groups. 1 group did paper assessments in the morning and other did the computer assessments. We then swapped over. You get the results per assessment after each on is finished if you fail you go. Take your belongings with you into exam rooms so you don’t have to walk back into kitchen and tell everyone incase you fail.
Don’t over think the Group Bourdon.
By the end of our day only two of us had passed everything. They may make you do the MMI same day dependent on whether the team seem fit to do so. Expect long periods of no communication between assessments and interviews.
It’s a great experience to learn from.

In my opinion and after reading many posts on the forums over the years, I think they are looking at accuracy rather than quantity. So rather get 10 answers correct than say 20 answers wrong out of 40 if that makes sense.

Good luck with your results, you should find out in a week or so hopefully.

The Scotrail medical was very thorough and lasted around 1.5 hours too. For a driver so may be different of course.

Health questionnaire and subsequent discussion re meds etc, Breathalyser, ECG, Blood pressure, height/weight, hearing, eyesight, colour blind, pee in a cup, chat with Dr. I think that's everything.

Does anyone know where I can practice these tests? Or what these tests might involve?

Have they been given any more information? Customer service role is relatively vague as is the assessment type.

Probably just situational judgment and numerical reasoning is likely for such a role. You can try non-formal "brain-training" games too which should help.
