Assessment in Huddersfield

Hello

Last week I sat 3 OPC tests (verbal, concentration, ticketing). I’ve just found out I passed them and I have a full day assessment in Huddersfield next week but no information as to what will be involved. I’m guessing it’ll involve role play and a structured interview. This obviously won’t take all day so does anyone know what’s involved?

When I went through the application my first invite was to a manager interview and then was invited to an assesment day which involved GB, Tickets, rules acquisition and role play and if successful a structured interview in the afternoon (depending how many make it through the tests earlier on, you are sent home if you don’t pass) it could last all day. Mine lasted until around 2pm with 2 making it through to the end.

Judging by the fact you have sat some already, they must have changed the format since I went through the process. I would assume you will sit the OPC tests you have not yet done.

Have they sent you an email about what to expect?

No. I called TPE and they said it’s turn up and follow instructions on the day. I just like to prepare as much as possible. Especially for the structured interview

Well done on making it through to the next stage Richmc! Like J-P_L said TPE must have changed the format - I did all the tests at Huddersfield in the morning with candidates being sent home if they didn't meet the standard after each test (absolutely brutal!) Then it was role play and structured interview in the afternoon for the remaining survivors!

If anyone can remember any questions from the structured interview I would be very grateful. I think I thought of most scenarios they may put to me and answers for them but any help and advice would help.

Can’t remember what the questions consisted of, but you get about 10 minutes to outline your answers earlier in the day and this forms the basis of your structured interview. It will probably take around an hour, be prepared for the assessor to dig away at your answers and ask you the same thing in different ways.

Off the top of my head I think it was 2 or 3. On the paper they want an outline and then go into more detail. They will asses your answers first and may ask you to think of another one if they feel it doesn’t fit what they are looking for.

That’s helps a lot. I have 14 scenarios that fit many customer service scenarios as well as working to time restrictions, in an emergency and following rules and regulations. It’s just my luck that I’ll be asked a question I have no answer for. But if it’s only 2 or 3 questions I’ll be ok
