Hi All,

I have a Assessment Day next week with Virgin Trains for a customer service role at Birmingham New Street.

With First Group taking over the new contract for the East Coast will this affect me much if I was to take the job?

I am more concerned about job security than anything else and do not want to leave my current job to be out of a job in six months.

Current employees of Virgin will simply transfer across to First Trenitalia on the 8th December. The current fleet of trains will slowly be rebranded and staff will move to new uniforms.

As for people like yourself in the recruitment system I honestly don't know? I myself have applied for a Virgin role but not heard anything back since I submitted the initial application last month.

I would certainly contact their HR or wait to speak to the Virgin staff involved in your assessment day next week. I would assume if other candidates are there they will be wanting the same answer so the issue might be raised without you having to say anything.

Good luck on the day anyway.

Thanks for that C J.

I initially applied in March and I have missed one assessment day by not receiving the email with the date on.

I had to get in touch with them on Twitter as I could not find any contact number or email address anywhere but they sorted it for me.

Hope you hear back from them soon,

Phil
