Hi, I have just received a date for my interview and assessment day for the trainee driver role. The email I received was very vague regarding what the day will entail and how it will be structured. I have done plenty of research online but everything I have found and read seems to differ slightly from page to page. This will be my first assessment and interview for this type of position and I’m really hoping someone who has experienced an assessment day might be able to offer me some advice and guidance on what to expect and how to prepare myself correctly for the day. Thanks

Which TOC? Every one differs their process slightly, but generally the assessment days are split over 2 days so day 1 has the paper tests (group bourdon, TEA-Occ, TRPs are the default ones I believe) and any additional ones if your TOC requires them (I had to do the DFFT in addition to the usual ones) and then if you pass day 2 has the 3 computer tests (WAFV, ATAVT, 2 hand coordination) and the MMI.

Some TOCs have you do all the paper tests and you find out if you’ve passed the day a couple of weeks after, some let you know after each test. If you fail one of the computer tests you don’t move on to the MMI. You’ll also have a DMI which for me was after the assessments but it can also be before again depending on the TOC.

Did you get sent any practice materials? I found them reasonably helpful but did a lot of research online which helped a lot more imo. There’s a group bourdon online practice program linked on the forum somewhere too which is a great tool to use.

Welcome to the forum. There is plenty of information in this section of the forum where previous posters have asked the same question as well as testimony from people who have attended the assessment centre, detailing the process they went through. Use the Search function to find the appropriate threads.
