Assessment 2 trainee driver question(s)

Hi,

I have researched extensively through the many threads on this forum and have gained lots of information regarding the different stages of the trainee driver recruitment, but I have just a couple of questions if I may.

1) for the 2-handed coordination test, is there a specific time I should be aiming for to complete the 10 circuits? I appreciate as quickly and as accurately as possible, but that said, I wouldn’t want to rush through and make excessive errors, and likewise, would not want to still be on circuit 2 when everyone else has completed the 10 due to being overly cautious.

2) when answering the 6 questions that will be discussed in the MMI, will I see all 6 questions together on the computer, or will I complete question 1, and then submit, to then see question 2 etc? Basically, I have got some examples that could lend themselves to more than 1 question, so I want to utilise them on the most appropriate question, and not burn an example on say question 1, only to find that it would have been more suited to say question 4. (If that makes sense)

3) when in the MMI, am I given the chance to answer a starting question with my complete answer (star) or do the interviewers break it up by asking me small portions at a time? e.g what was the situation? Answer, What did you do? Answer.....

In regards to the MMI, the way mine worked was I was given a sheet of paper with the 6 questions, I was told to write a short answer for each and then you was basically probed about your answers for each. I used pretty much the same situation for each of the questions because it was relevant. If you have had a DMI before your MMI, the likelihood is, you’ve already answered the questions anyway!

2 hand - do not worry about time, it is as you said, to just be quick and accurate equally, just focus on that, and if you do go off track, it’s about how quick you get back on track too.

I find on this forum people get caught up in ‘times’ and ‘scores’ when really no one knows the pass marks, so it just adds unnecessary stress. Do your best and that’s all.

MMI - I had 6 questions on a double sided sheet of A4 with 25 mins to write answers down.

Also I remember being told I could use the same answer for more than one question as long as it related to the question

And yes they do break up your answer, a lot. What did you do, how did this make you feel etc. They also ask details, so don’t lie as it could easily catch you out.

Hey all..I too have my mmi soon..i have done a lot of research and practised a lot for it..but any final tips etc anyone has I wouldn't say no..(clarification of the questions lists and processes) would be foolish to not take advantage of any extra information.. thanks in advance

I haven’t got a list of actual questions, just lots of questions that I have found from this forum,

Such as:

A time when you have made a mistake
A time when you have had to complete a task without being given enough information
A time when you have worked under pressure
A time when you have had to solve a complex problem
A time when you have worked alone

Etc....

Quite generic really. I’ve basically tried to think of some examples that could cover a few potential questions and hope that they fit the ones in an MMI

Regarding the MMI, at mine they allowed me to answer the whole question during the interview (using STAR is advised), the interviewer then probed me on what I’d said and picked certain points of each question out. I actually found it easier than a lot of interviews purely because you know exactly what you’ll be asked as you have to write (albeit very briefly) answers to the set questions before the interview.

Drop it in discretely if you like I guess, as it shows you are able to prepare for these things. I didn’t do it like that I don’t think, and the interviewers will be able depict exactly what you’ve said and probe accordingly. To be honest this is for your benefit rather than there’s, as an indication. As long as all their criteria and boxes are ticked it doesn’t really matter how you got there.

On my first attempt, despite the instructor stating time was not an issue....after the test he called me back in to tell me my accuracy was good but I was too slow completing the test. Hence my day ended there. Go at a steady pace thats slow enough to be accurate but quick enough to be what is required....

The ball on screen moves where you hold the sticks. If you let go the ball goes back to the start position. I had one of the sticks come off mid test and I still passed. It's not that difficult once you get the hang of it.

Indeed the sticks are pressure sensitive.

Personally I found being an elite quickscoper on Call of Duty in my younger years helped with the 2hand.

Its hard to put a time on it really. You will go out of the lines, its inevitable. You can go at a pace where you dont go out of the lines eg moving the ball one pixel at a time which is slow, difficult and will be too slow to pass.
I found the diagonal movement most difficult, but you repeat the same shape so hopefully speed will increase. Try to find that middle ground between your accuracy and speed. I found this aspect the hardest of the entire process.
