I have mentioned on another thread that my son (over eighteen) could get a Disabled Adullt R/C. He might get an offer of a job that would require him to go to Botley. It seems that, on a quick check, an Anytime Return with DRC discount x 5 = £28.00, slightly cheaper than the £31.60 Weekly Season. However, of course a Weekly means that you can use it at weekends, e.g. to Southyampton.

My query is whether there are two valid options to travel: via Eastleigh and via Fareham? Just to increase travel opportunities.

The fares check rule from the Routeing Guide determines that only via Eastleigh is valid.

However, I imagine most guards would accept it via Fareham anyway.

And if you got on a train at Fareham and the guard (correctly) excessed you, then you could always call him a jobsworth.
Dont forget you will be dealing with 2 guards and even if the first one says its okay, the second one could say it isnt.

I agree that a weekly season ticket Ashurst N Forest - Botley costs £31.60. There is no Anytime Return for this journey, but both the NFM 06 CD and the journey planners show the Railcard Anytime Day Return at £4.60, giving a weekly cost of £23 for 5 return journeys.

Very true, it's not something I'd do every day as you're bound to get picked up eventually. But the vast majority of guards will see "Any Permitted", and assume it is fine.

Anyway, I'm sure it will always be quicker to go via Eastleigh.

There is no Anytime Return for ANF - BOE though. The only tickets are Anytime Day Single, Off Peak Day Return, Anytime Day Return, and First Class equivalents.

You might want to think about the access to the platforms at Botley depending on the disability involved?

I think that if he is commuting in the morning peak this might be quite a lengthy journey because of the stopping pattern of peak services which are basically optimised for journey time to london.
He might be better off with a bus from Parkway?
