I see that there will be a new combined bus and Manchester Metrolink interchange planned to open in 2018 at a cost stated to be £37.2 million. The current bus station was built in 1994.
It would be good if they could include a way to access the Network Rail station to/from the new interchange via footbridge or subway rather than having to cross the busy main road as at present.
The existing bus station may have been built in 1994, but it is the same style and design as the one it replaced, which was built in the 80s. I think the 1994 rebuild only happened because it had to be moved slightly to accommodate the new shopping centre.
I'm intrigued as to what this will entail - typically, it's shown up just as I cease to be a regular user of it. I think it's inevitable it'll be a single island, knowing TfGM - will the Metrolink be extended slightly towards it?
