Ashford/London to Edinburgh

I will be traveling from Ashford to Edinburgh later this year, my friend lives in London and will be joining me from there.

So to clarify we require:
1X Ashford International to Edinburgh Waverly
1X London Kings Cross to Edinburgh Waverly

We intend to take advantage of advance fares and would like to have reservations together.

Is it possible to obtain reservations together by booking at the same time? Or will I be best buying a saver return to London in conjunction with two lots of advances from London to Edinburgh booked together?

If you book on the East Coast website you choose your seats so you can select seats next to each other.

Alternatively but the tickets from a station and they'll be able to sort the seats for you.

Unfortunately East Coast Advances are online only so I cannot go to a booking office.

I cannot see anywhere to choose your seats when booking an advance on the East Coast website.

When I had the same dilemma last year I just booked the saver from Ashford to London as there was only about £4 in it, presumably as the south eastern connection is not the bit that is discounted.


EDIT: I can now see how to change it (selecting the view you seat option) and feel rather silly!

It would be nice if East Coast changed that to View/Change your seat!

Agreed. Booking Advance tickets on the East Coast site gives a small online discount for journeys priced by East Coast, such as Ashford or London to Edinburgh.

There is an additional 2% off East Coast only fares when booking through the East Coast website. East Coast only fares can be booked through any TOC, but are therefore slightly cheaper if booked through East Coast.
