Due to roadworks on the A684 between Garsdale & Sedbergh, Arriva-operated DalesBus 832 will be diverted between Hawes & Kirkby Lonsdale serving Ribblehead and Ingleton from 28th June until the end of the DalesBus summer season on 18th October. The 832 will no longer serve Garsdale and Sedbergh, and Western DalesBus will operate a replacement S7 service between Sedbergh and Kirkby Lonsdale.

Due to an ongoing programme of roadworks on the A684 between Garsdale and Sedbergh there will be major changes to DalesBus 832 between Hawes and Kirkby Lonsdale from 28th June:

• DalesBus 832 will operate via Ribblehead and Ingleton, and will no longer serve Garsdale or Sedbergh. The revised timetable is available here (PDF file).
• Western Dales Bus S7 will run between Sedbergh and Kirkby Lonsdale, at the same times as DalesBus 832 used to. The timetable is available here (PDF file).

Another question for the locals I took a trip on the X18 from Alnwick (towards Newcastle) to go via Amble, at Alnmouth Village the driver went around the roundabout (war memorial), but according to both Apple/Google I should have went up by Shepherds Hill? (Arriva app themselves say roundabout). Any ideas or anyone with better knowledge can enlighten me?

I passed what may have been one of these on the M6 around Leyland yesterday morning heading North. I didn't get a good look because it was in lane 1 and I was in lane 4 and it was obscured by HGVs.

At Alnmouth the X18 operates via the B1338 past Alnmouth football club. It then crosses the River Aln, enters the village, passes the Methodist Church, turns at the War Memorial, then returns to serve the bus stop on the opposite side of the road from the Methodist Church. It then crosses the River Aln again and heads back out along the B1338 past the football club. It does not operate via Shepherd's Hill. Arriva does not have any vehicles small enough to operate around Shepherd's Hill.

I think that the route in Alnmouth was changed either just before or just after Covid. I can remember seeing an Arriva bus stop flag in the Main Street on one of my infrequent visits.

Arriva changed the X18 route in Alnmouth before Covid to no longer serve the Main Street. The bus stop flag remained as Travelsure's 418 served the Main Street up until Travelsure stopped operating public services in December 2023. Borders Buses took over the 418 and changed the route so it no longer served Alnmouth whatsoever and instead extended it passed Belford to Wooler so it could be interworked with the 464 to/from Berwick.

Not sure if you have an itinerary for that but if you don't mind paying an extra £1.70 for the Northumberland Line, if you can catch one of the BYD's on the Blyth expresses you could do something like

Newcastle Haymarket - Either X7 to Seaton Delaval Station, X8/X10 to Newsham Station or X9 to Bebside Station - Don't catch the X11
Northumberland Line: Whatever Station Above to Northumberland Park
Metro: Northumberland Park to Heworth (Class 555)
58: Heworth to Gateshead (Electroliner)
X66: Gateshead to Metrocentre (E200EV)
Northern Rail: Metrocentre to Central Station (Included in Transport North East Ticket)

Means you'd get a decent run on everything which you listed there.

I am already due to go to Ashington on the Sunday and ride the train back to Newcastle.

I am due to finish at Durham on Monday to get the train south from there. I plan to go via Consett and route 16. The other buses I aim to fit in are Go North East 75 reg Streetdeck, maybe Enviro 400 MMC, but also Stagecoach Yutong, locally in Newcastle.

No worries, any reason for the 16 (just curious). It's a pretty drab route around some pretty miserable places - no malice to the likes of Stanley and Sacriston.

Could save some time and cut the corner off with the X5/X15 and maybe get an E400MMC if there's one on that day. It's a right old mixed bag though.

Oh, I forgot about X5/X15. I shall check the routes again, but just want a combo of routes to see both Stanley and Consett, preferably without duplicates.

7701-7705/7707-7714/7716 all in use today, with 7710/7712/7714/7716 on their first day of use. I believe 7706 is also here but in Southport depot, and not seen use to my knowledge.

Judging by dates I've been given, Darlington will get their Kites into service before Durham's BYDs so it may be Christmas before the E400MMCs due to move to Darlington to replace 7516/8/9/20/21 (7518 is already withdrawn due to engine failure) land. No further deckers are due to be displaced from Blyth for use elsewhere within the region once their BYDs fully roll out.

No training has started yet as they are still waiting for a fuel powered generator so they can charge the kites while the charging points are installed.

Yeah - Albert Road becomes Cleveland Street. That one. No decision yet on a reroute or other mitigation yet.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s months rather than weeks but at least work has begun!
