Hi all,

Noticed that one of the Arriva Leicester buses on the 47/48 route was going round with a "WiFi on board" sticker on the front just under the window. Is this a borrowed bus or are they all getting it?

B.

Only the vehicles for the x3 are getting it unfortunately. They are also getting branded for it.

they are due to but when is another matter.

vehicles 4741 4742 4744 and 4745 I belive are the only 4 fitted with wifi, somewhere along the line another is due to be fitted as well, to provide a spare vehicle. I also saw 4742 on the 85 last week.

also the only reason why I think they have fitted it is to try and give stagecoach some competition against their X7 service as far as Mkt. Harborough

I believe the Citaros on the 80 are also getting them.

Saw one of the refurbed lowlanders with the WiFi stickers on the 49a yesterday

Surprised they're not using the newer buses for the x3.

Also there's still no branding. Do we know exactly what branding they are getting? Leicester seems to be particularly poor at branding if you look at the crap attempt that was local linx.

Newer buses? Do you mean the cascaded crap from London?

No, they're older. Was thinking the eclipses which are newer by about 3 years. Not much, but still! As also I find from a customer perspective the eclipses seem a lot more modern.

Something to do with Efficiency I believe, the longer journeys suit the lowlanders.

They might not be too bad mechanically, but the interiors leave a lot to be desired, and by that I include both types. Hardly surprising considering where they were previously. Can't wait for the next round of refurbishments.

Agree, the ALX400 are horrible inside. No upstairs bus stop indicator. Old style bench seats upstairs and downstairs near the drover has no poles so if you're standing and he stops quickly you end up flying!

Also love how Arriva have tackily cellotaped the security door open!

There appears to be an oversupply of weekly-pass pouches.

they did that because the latches on the security screens are crap and don't work.

I was on about the interiors... I also find the ALX400 downstairs layout very awkward, loads of tip ups and disabled spave then they ram you all in at the back of the lower deck.... I would have modified them somewhat.

And for the record I prefer the older style seats upstairs on those, I find them much more comfortable than the plastic moulded seats.

Um stagecoach or arriva from kibworth to Leicester and back. I think stagecoach as they run later and provide the Sunday service.

Yes I know that but I was saying that is potentially the reason why it has been done. Point Taken but its a case of trying to make the route as viable as possible and trying your best to keep the base of custom there.

Has anyone used the WiFi yet, is it free to use? What's the connection speed like? I assume it's just connected to a mobile 3G network?

I think the staircase was positioned as such to conform to TfL standards.
