Hello again all!
Another odd thing seen at Stockport this morning, at around 0910 I came onto platform 2 to find an Arriva Trains Wales Class 175 in platform 3 literally billowing smoke out across the station and making a dreadful rattling sound like a jack-hammer on concrete.
As far as I could see the smoke was coming from the exhaust between the front two (of three) carriages.
It remained like this for a good 10 minutes before the smoke died down and it departed as normal (although sounding a bit worse for wear).
All the passengers remained on-board and but although I couldn't see anything happening on the far side of the train, there was what appeared to be a workman walking away from the train before it departed.
Does anyone have any idea what might have happened to it?

Arriva Flames & Fails' 175s do have a habit of going up in smoke.

Sounds like a pipe carrying diesel is touching a pipe carrying something a bit hot. (again).

That would make sense, the smoke choking the whole of platform two smelt like diesel, thanks!

It was 175110 (again). It set off from Wilmslow exactly like that, minutes earlier. Caught the unit later in the day and the middle carriage engine had been isolated - and still is today.
