Supporting the business’ on-going commitment to strengthen operating efficiencies within its core business, Arriva has implemented a strategic three stage roll-out of more than 230 new vehicles which will improve service provision across both new and existing routes nationwide.

Not impressed, nothing for south Wigston which needs about 60 newer buses. (averaging 17 breakdowns peer day with around 70 buses)

Last three days, I've seen E400s on delivery (Sapphire base livery - SN15LPL?? was one of five I've seen) on the M1. Doesn't seem like a full years' order but wonder if London doesn't feature and there may be a second tranche later?

Where do your figures come from ?

London is always left separate, as it's all down to contracts, and isn't yet known.

.

I think you will find that drivers are not always in possession of all the facts.

it fits well with what I've seen though... (I know of 4 breakdowns in the last week on a route with a PVR of 5, and I only know of the ones that have occurred when it's affected me so approximately 2 hours a day)

That is probably the 50 to Narborough.

Be very interesting to see what "new" Buses will be coming to Colchester for the New park and ride that opens on April the 13th which Arriva/Tgm Have supposedly won ???. Quote from the local rag below. I have not seen any application for a O Licence either for cuckoo farm.Looking at the proposed timetable the pvr will be 8 Buses assuming one of the spare Buses will be one of the Volvo's used on the Stansted service ??.

The centre, by the A12 at Cuckoo Farm, will be the base for a fleet of new buses running every day to Queen Street and back.

The buses will run between 7am and 7pm, with return tickets costing about £3. The route has also been revealed.

The service registration went in a while back.
Not seem the timetable but reports gave the following vehicle names, suggesting a total fleet of five: St Helena, Queen Boadicea, Emperor Claudius, Sir George Lisle and Sir Charles Lucas, to be painted black as per those used in Chelmsford.
My assumption is that the Gazette did not mean base in the way that you understood it, and that the vehicles will operate from the depot at Grange Way, but I'm happy to be proved wrong.

Fair comment Tas. i just assumed that their would be a new operating centre at cuckoo farm. has Arriva/Tgm been awarded the contract. there was a hint in the local rag but i cant find any proof who has actually been awarded the contract.

I believe the details were officially announced at the Colchester Transport Symposium about a month ago. The registration is as follows:

ARRIVA KENT THAMESIDE LTD - PF1116442/50 [this is the license that all former TGM Group services in Essex are now registered to]

Registration Number:
Variation Number 0
Status Registered
Operator Name ARRIVA KENT THAMESIDE LTD
Service Number(s) PARK & RIDE
Start Point Colchester Park & Ride
Finish Point Colchester Park & Ride
Via Colchester Town Centre
Service Type Circular<BR>Limited Stop
Date Received 03-FEB-2015
Effective Date 07-APR-2015
End Date -
TAOs covered by route East of England
Local Authorities covered by route Essex County Council
N&P Reference 2199

The article with the most detail is http://www.eadt.co.uk/news/details_of_colchester_s_park_ride_scheme_revealed_1_3953754, stating that "TGM Group has won a five-year contract to run the service, which will have five brand new buses, with an option for a two-year extension."
