Are we losing the ability to verbally communicate?

With me its the opposite, because i write so rarely when i do it i tend to take my time over it and write much better than i did in the past!

With those who type a lot poor handwriting isn't just because you rarely do it, it's because your wrists are overworked.

Do you think communication difficulties are an confidence issue, anxiety, lack of being around people or something else?

When I was at secondary school I made an observation about myself. In the first two years I had weekly Drama lessons - I hated them but it meant every week I was standing up and doing something in front of other people. In the third year I didn't do Drama and was doing Spanish lessons when other pupils were doing Drama and felt less comfortable standing up and doing in front of other people when it was required for another subject.

Then in the world of work when I started working for a busy digital marketing agency I was in a role which wasn't client facing and I was happy to be in that kind of role. Then the recession came about and the number of people employed as 'client services' staff decreased which meant I was taking more incoming phone calls and occasionally being involved in meetings with clients. Then as time went on I ended up again rarely taking incoming phone calls. I noticed I got more confident in dealing with incoming phone calls when I was doing it regularly and then became less confident again as I ended up doing it less often.

I can speak clearly about things of which I have knowledge.
I have not a politician's ability to talk at length about anything, including things about which they have neither experience nor knowledge, whist giving nothing definite to the listener except bleeding ears and a sense of deja vu (apologies for lack of accents but I cannot figure out how to do them)
