Hi all,

Just a quick question - Are Virgin first class passengers allowed to access the fridges?

We were onboard a few days ago awaiting departure and a member of the crew walked through and said we could help ourselves to water from the the fridge.

I didn't even know there was a fridge in the coach. I had a quick look at the kitchenette (if that's the right word) but couldn't figure out where the fridge was and didn't want to take any chances.

Thankfully, another member of crew walked through a few minutes later and replenished the fridge with small bottles of water.

Just wondering if passengers should access the fridges, etc - if I hadn't been given permission I would have thought this was against safety rules?

Many thanks.

if you mean the little fridges halfway down the 1st class pendolino coaches then yes you can access them. Never had a problem (except when they are empty) like most other 1st class passengers.

Yes you can although obviously don't take the ****. I was advised to help myself by a member of staff once.

Many thanks - just wanted to check - didn't want to assume it's okay to help myself to a bottle of water on my next journey only to be told I shouldn't.

When travelling first class I'm always conscious of my behaviour and how many complementaries I have - I've seen far too many take the ****.

There were two girls the other day in the first class coach refusing to move on three separate occasions when told to do so by staff using the excuse that the lobbies were blocked - not entirely incorrect - people were standing in the lobbies when there were loads of seats available - and they too refused to move despite being told twice over the tannoy :x

surely a jon for Virgin's train crew / BTP - at the very least a revenue gaining opportunity?

The BTP are only likely to attend if the passengers in question become aggressive or if it's a major sting operation. Otherwise they're spread to thin to be involved in normal revenue disputes.

How exactly is it taking the ****, may I ask? I mean you are paying for first class and it clearly states that you get unlimited goods so why shouldn't you be allowed to go as many times as you want? In fact most of the time I have used FC on the Virgin Super Voyagers, the guy behind the counter told me that I can come back as much times as you want, and he just said it, I didn't ask him.

We got none last time as the train left before 10:00! (It left at 09:57 or thereabouts). My mate was well p*shed off! Shouting at the staff &c. "I've paid good money for this.............shocking service &c.." He was quite embarrassing so I bust his bubble by letting on how much he had paid ~ all of £38!

Erm - I'm starting to get the distinct impression I've been missing out here! What fridges are we talking about?

They probably trusted you to be sensible with that statement and not take the **** with it... sure you can have a few to drink but the people we're talking about are the people who would grab all the cans and shove them in their bag!

Sounds like a recent late night journey of mine on East Coast - was chatting to one of the hosts, and mentioned I was staff, to promptly be told to take as much food and drink as I wanted. I was about to start my second Old Speckled Hen when I remembered I was supposed to be driving at the other end

Is a H&S course needed now to open a fridge? Nothing would suprise me:)
