Are the bus stops in Glasgow named ?

As per the title .. do bus stop signs in Glasgow have names ?

We were recently in London and Edinburgh and both have named stops .. which makes navigation easier. My wife and I are visiting Glasgow at the end of the month

In theory. Many stops have different names given by First and by McGills in their respective apps I've noticed though.

On the stops themselves, it's often just 'xx Rd, at xx Street' or similar.

OP here .. just returned from a short stay in Glasgow and didn't have any problems .. however, the stop names mentioned on Google Maps are not shown on the actual stops which is a little bit annoying.

As you say, the bus companies give different 'names' for the stops on their timetables. Maybe one day, everything will be standardised.

Every stop in the UK has an "official" name that is in the Naptan (national stop) database. Whether or not it appears on stop flags is down to local practice; certainly in England, one of the best practice guidelines as part of the Bus Service Improvement Plan project is for stop names to be easily visible to customers - putting them on flags is perhaps one of the easiest and most visible ways of doing so.
