Are the 800s really that bad?

I haven’t had the chance to ride on a 800/1 yet so when people slag them off I don’t know if they’re being honest or not.

I get the 800s with GWR are very dull (grey boring seats) but are they actually that uncomfortable?

My theory is that people are subconsciously biased when it comes to the 800s because they love the HSTs so much, but if you’ve been please let me know what you think of them.
