My latest TfL delay repay experience was a little cumbersome. I travelled with a paper ticket issued by a National Rail TVM. After sending my initial email:
They should really allow passengers to submit claims online and in full, instead of wasting their and customer service's time.
What are your non-contactless/Oyster delay repay experiences with TfL?
- TfL: Please tell us the start and end station of delay, line delayed, date of journey, total journey time, time journey started and ended, how much the delay was or if the train was cancelled or the journey didn't happen. Then we can move to the next stage. (despite details having already been provided)
- TfL: Can you write your case reference number on your tickets (better hope the ticket gates haven't swallowed it! No ticket, no refund!), take a photo, then cut the tickets in half, take a photo, and send the photos. Then we can move to next stage.
- TfL: Your email address is registered with TfL. Please send the name and address linked to your account to confirm ownership of the account (for what reason?). Then we can move to the next stage.
- TfL: Can you call this phone number, press option 2, then 5, then 9, give your reference number to the person on the line, and your bank details to the person on the phone (apparently it's more secure this way?).
- TfL: (On the phone) please wait 10 minutes while we wait for an agent to become available... Can you confirm the refund amount and tell me your bank details? Thanks, you'll receive the compensation in a few days.
