@Halwynd and @WesternLancer I am rather envious that you both travelled in one.
During 1984 and 1985 I regularly saw it from my school and - sometimes at lunchtime - passing my local WCML station.
My O Level learning, I am sure, took second fiddle to the APT.
I was on a quick out and back errand during the summer holidays, having unexpectedly been sent to the DVLC office at Preston for a road tax disc.
Fate served a big helping hand in many ways that day!
