Is there a particular reason Teignmouth is skipped? I can understand Dawlish as that's bearing the brunt of any rough seas/high tides, but Teignmouth is sheltered away from the shoreline. The only reason I can think of is bi-directional running is deployed and they need to skip the stop to clear the de facto single section quicker.

Here's the weather at Dawlish: the strong-ish Easterly wind is more or less onshore at Dawlish, enhancing the impact of the spring tide:

Its pretty windy down here in the west. I doubt GWR want to risk an IET sitting down on the sea wall with a wind from the east and high tide is at 2215.

Apparently according to their app they're not serving the markow branch after 9pm tonight.
No reason given and no notification or alternative road transport.
Realtraintimes still have the trains listed as running.
Guess it will be a surprise if I get home tonight

Showing cancelled on National Rail, shortage of traincrew.

So I’d use that over Realtime Trains. As always RTT won’t be exactly accurate until these trains are cancelled off in Trust.

If the engines get wet then there’s a not unreasonable chance that if the train stops it won’t get moving again; so best to make the next stop somewhere the train can be worked around (Newton Abbot) rather than where it can’t (Teignmouth).

It’s a mandated method of work agreed between GWR and NR when forecast meets certain criteria - ALL IETs have to run non-stop between St David’s and Newton Abbot in both directions. Similar to Voyagers not being permitted to operate along sea wall under certain weather conditions.

The “severe weather” reason in Journey Check is the best fit from a fixed list of options to choose from.

Trains now reinstated.
This often happens when marlow branch trains are cancelled due to shortage of train crew, they're reinstated at short notice

I recall something about flying spray getting onto/into the braking resistors on the roof, or was that a different class?

You would think that we had learnt nothing from the distributors getting wet on the early Minis. (That was because the engines were turned round at a late stage in the design to increase the ground clearance. Typical change of mind from Marketing!)
