Just been reading back about the Class 142/150 combination that replaced a failed HST between Newton Abbot and Bristol Temple Meads in April 2010. It can be seen near the foot of this page: http://www.tauntontrains.co.uk/NEWS-2010-APR.htm

I am really struggling to find any more information about it although I seem to recall it was mentioned on here but I cannot find any reference to it now. I know it was a Penzance to Paddington diagram involved, but does anyone know which one it was? Presumably 1A76 or 1A77?

Ignore 1A76 and 1A77, it couldn't have been them, they don't go via Bristol! :s

Well the 07:41 Penzance - Pad (can't remember the headcode) goes via Bristol, although are we sure that the original working was booked via Bristol in the first place? Could it not have been that Bristol was the easiest place to start the replacement HST given the proximity to St Phillips Marsh?

I'm not sure, but just thinking aloud so to speak!

The 0741 and 1741 off Penzance (1A16 and 1A35 respectively) are (I believe) the only services that travel via Bristol.

It was 1A12 0740 Paignton to London via Bristol. Dunno why the website says Penzance to London.
