Applying to ScotRail as a Qualified Driver

Hi all,

I'm planning on relocating to the Edinburgh area shortly and I'm just wondering if someone on here could shed some light/has been through the process of applying to ScotRail as a Qualified Driver. I've seen that they've recently closed applications for trainees and I've already emailed recruitment my C.V. If anyone on here has moved to ScotRail from another TOC (or knows anyone who has), I'd appreciate any information you have!

ScotRail haven’t recruited for Qualified drivers in a while I believe but I’ve heard people sending CVs in just like you have and being offered an interview. As you’re not going to the highlands, fortunately you do have some more choices. XC, LNER and AWC all have depots at Edinburgh (though they don’t recruit too frequently either).

LNER have no plans to recruit Qualified Drivers in the near future. XC, just a matter of seeing what comes up on the careers site.

The “word on the street” is that LNER are about to launch a recruitment campaign for qualified drivers, albeit I have no idea whether that will extend to the Edinburgh depot.
