Looking to apply for the above post and one criteria is essential and that is COSHH, I've only touched on it before to pass a test at a previous job but never really used it before. Has anyone ever been successful without relevant experience for this type of role.
Cheers.

If you have been tested on it before at a previous job, could you give detail about why it was needed? Although you may not have dealt with it yourself if you could provide detail of how you have seen it used and implemented (and why it was required) I’d imagine that would constitute previous experience.

Had to pass COSHH regulations yearly test (amongst others) when I worked for a large DIY company (orange aprons), never really needed to use them, just had to pass the test.

You can say you had to pass yearly tests on COSHH. You probably did use COSHH if you worked in a DIY store.

I worked as a cleaner at Stagecoach bus and had to learn about COSHH as part of the induction as cleaners work with various chemicals with various risks.

If you're cleaning pen/graffiti from a seat back etc you'd use a certain chemical and so on.

If you've touched on it in a previous job, I'd say do some online research as to what each symbol means etc and basically brush up on your knowledge and it shouldn't be much of an issue id have thought.

You do have experience of COSHH, even if you don't think you have used it, you probably did, subconsciously anyway, quite often if you worked in a DIY store. In any event, the concept of it is not new to you and if you get interviewed and they ask you about it just explain your experience of it. If you had to pass a yearly test on COSHH with your previous employer then that would qualify you more than someone who had absolutely no experience with COSHH in my view. I very much doubt you'd fail to meet that requirement. Best of luck!

The fact you even know what COSHH is is experience enough. I can guarantee lots of candidates won't, or will come up with a Google answer. You'll most likely be asked what COSHH stands for, and the consequences of getting it wrong. ie mixing chemicals together can be dangerous, what PPE is required for each chemical etc. You certainly have the required credentials if you've been tested annually. Apply.
