Applying for another TOC whilst in a talent pool?

After some clarification please.

Ok, I'm at present in a talent pool awaiting a Medical and then a trainee train driver training position etc.

What is the situation if I apply for another job with a different TOC?

I know the assessments we passed are all on a data base so they would be valid for 3 years with any TOC unless the TOC decides they want to still do there own assessments.

What I'm asking is what will I have to do for this new position etc

Do I have to

1. Do assessments again?

2. Do the DMI again?

3. Do the MMI again?

4. Would the original TOC which I'm in the talent pool with be aware that I'm applying for another TOC and will it effect my current situation in the talent pool that I'm in?

5. When applying for the new TOC on the new application form do I tell the new TOC my up to date position ?

I just worried I might be burning my bridges or is this just a common thing everyone does to get these type of jobs?

If the TOC that you want to apply to requires enhanced scores for the assessments and you don't meet them then you may have to do those again. If not I think its just the DMI.

The original TOC won't know about any other applications you have - unless perhaps they are part of the same group of companies (Abellio, GTR etc). The new TOC won't need to know about your existing talent pool situation unless they specifically ask, which seems unlikely as I've never seen it in an application form.

I'd go for it - you don't even have a job with the original TOC and you could be in that talent pool for a long while, and if you get a better offer then you can simply let them know that you are withdrawing your application.

Ok so I need to find out what my pass standard was. I'll have to ask them. Or is the data base available for anyone to view?

So that now brings up new possible set of problems.

If let's say I passed at a slightly less than enhanced with my current TOC and I have to take another assessment and don't get the enhanced score , how does that leave me with assessment with the original TOC?

Your new score will wipe out your old score so be careful. Also some TOC have higher enhanced scores than others which use enhanced scoring.

I think you would only be asked to do the DMI again so the new TOC gets a chance to assess you etc.

I'm newly qualified with LUL but considering applying for MTR crossrail I believe there's more sustainability in the role. Would you stick with where you were or would you apply and see what happens I mean no guarantee I'd get the role. Would it jeopardise my current position? Any advice would be much appreciated.

I would stick where I am and get some experience under my belt - its not going to look great on your CV if you hop between employers just after you've qualified. I'm not sure what you mean by sustainability in the role - London Underground is going to be around for a long time! I think you have a very safe job if you keep your nose clean.

That's very true! And in terms of sustainability once the next pay deal talks start etc it's common knowledge that LUL have no money and also once the new 'driverless trains' comes in (I know a good 5-7years from now) there will definitely be pay cuts etc but I think you are correct I'll stick with where I am I've been with LUL 5years but only on the drivers side 8 months now. You're welcome - and tbh I think your fears about driverless trains are unfounded. It's the Piccadilly line that was mooted for them by Boris Johnson when he was Mayor, but Sadiq Khan is against them and even Tfl have said 2030 at the earliest. Even then there won't be pay cuts, they will just lose drivers by attrition - retirement and so on. If there was a line that was made for driverless trains it's Crossrail because the infrastructure is brand new - unlike most of the London Underground.
