I have just applied for the Trainee Conductor position with ATW closing date was Sunday.
I was just wondering when I could expect to hear whether I have been successful in moving to the next stage? How long does it usually take for the shortlisting?
I applied for the Trainee Conductor positions at Chester that were advertised in mid-October, and it was about 10 days from submitting my application to being invited to the next stage which is the Assessments and Interview. It all depends how quickly they want the whole process to be.
The next stage in this instance was about a week and a half later from receiving the invite.
And if I do make the cut, what can I expect from the next stage should I make it?
Also - anyone else here applied? If so, for which location?
The next stage if you're successful after Shortlisting is the Assessments and Interview. The OPC Assessments consist of a Concentration Test (the dots test), Verbal Reasoning, Ticket Selling and Checking. You sit these in the morning, and if successful you're invited back the same afternoon for an Interview with a Conductor Performance Manager, someone from HR, and in my case a Graduate Manager too (though I was only there for the Interview, having sat the tests previously in 2012 with LM).
I found out the results of my interview about 5 days later. All the Chester positions have been filled with previous candidates who were on hold, and I too am now on hold for vacancies in 2014 as and when they arise. So for me... the whole process was done quite quickly in Railway terms!
Hope that helps!
