Hi all,

A few months ago I ambitiously applied for the above role. After passing the online tests I heard nothing from SWR, so assumed I had been unsuccessful, however today they offered me a place on an assessment day next Thursday.

After re-reading the original job description, I've noticed it says applicants should live within 45 minutes of the station in question, which I don't, not by a long way! However, I would be able to relocate almost immediately if successful with my application, assessments etc. Would this be enough for the TOC to continue to consider me or would my application be thrown away?

I've attempted to speak to someone at SWR this afternoon but that was much like urinating in a stiff breeze! Ive already booked my place on the assessment day but obviously don't want to waste my time or SWRs. Any info from someone in the know would be appreciated.

Were you clear in your application about relocating? Usually they’d sift people out before this stage if there was an issue.

Firstly well done on getting this far, sometimes it's the hardest part. I'm sure that swr will be fine with you relocating if you are successful in your assessment, interview & medical. Yeovil is a ok place to live with some nice surrounding villages if they take your fancy. Good luck on next thursday, let us know how you get on.

There is a very good chance they will want you to relocate, I relocated to work on swr and did not get the actual DMI and MMI interview until I had relocated and also they did want proof and also at the time they put it into google maps or whatever they use to see how long it would take, but stick with it and speak to them when you go there about it and good luck with it all
