Looks like TfL have got a sense of humour at least!
That's why I go Android.
Because of one app that has a few teething troubles when it's first been released? That's why I go Android.
With an app that uses Open Street Map data, so you can download the whole of the UK and not need a signal.

Well with Google maps you can only pre cache 5x 10mile x 10mile sections, but with an OSM app you can download whole countries before you go out.
As you can with Nokia Maps (along with turn-by-turn directions and traffic disruption updates).Well with Google maps you can only pre cache 5x 10mile x 10mile sections, but with an OSM app you can download whole countries before you go out.

Obviously it needs a network connection for the traffic updates, but can it do turn-by-tuen directions when offline? (That was the distinction between Nokia Maps and Google maps when I bought my last phone.)The Apple maps app has those (on later phones).
It seems to think i am in Dudley when i am in Stourbridge
Same thing, it's all Birmingham...
...hides.
OI!!! I am really offended! I ain't a Birmingham lad i am a Black Country lad. 2 separate places!! Just like although Stourbridge is in the Dudley Borough, it ain't Dudley its Stourbridge.
But they're not "free". Maps are an advertised feature of the phone, and as such there is a reasonable expectation for them to work properly.
The IOS6 maps offering is free (just like the Google app it replaced), because above and beyond the price of the iPhone you don't pay any extra for the app, pay for the use of it, or will have to pay for upgrades (unlike Tomtom for example).
However it is advertised, so Is part of the price of the iphone.
It doesn't fit in with Apple's ethos of providing a slick user interface, I'm surprised they released it as though it were a finished product, surely it would have been more productive to keep google maps as default (assuming they were in a position to do so which is by no means certain) and market their own version as a beta until the UI/app improved.
Then again I may be in my Android mindset, do Apple users mind betas?
Google were withholding certain features of the Google Maps app from Apple, such as the turn-by-turn navigation......I think its more that Apple want another chunk of another pie.....
....Perhaps Google wanted too much money from Apple....
Clearly this app has been rushed to release way too soon - very unlike Apple!
