Tonight there was more disruption on the Aire Valley lines out towards Skipton from Leeds. This was variously described as "signalling problems" or "points failures". Who knows, who cares? But it does seem to me that this location - Apperley Junction - is particularly prone to outages for various causes. So two questions: is it (or is it just a disgruntled commuter's perception); if so, what is it about that stretch that makes it so?

I know it's prone to flooding between shipley and leeds.

Also, this weekend that line is shut, anyone know what works are taking place and why tomorrow morning's Ribblehead to Leeds is the only train running through to Leeds in the morning? I presume it's overhead wire work if it's only the diesel service running through.
