hi I wondered if there were any ways, pm if need be, to get the price of this down , OCTOBER 9 to 15. Advances are very expensive and looked into splitting and even going from picc across to vic and taking. Northern service from there to Leeds. Can get it down to about £42,50 with a two together using this method but would rather not do this, two elderly people. Would rather change at Piccadilly. Thanks

I wasn't sure whether your £42.50 was per person or the total for 2 people, but I can get £59.50 in total for returns for 2 people with a Two Together railcard for Alsager to York specifying "via Derby" in both directions on new.trainsplit.com -- that price involves multiple splits in each direction with a mixture of advances and flexible tickets.

You'll probably need to provide a bit more information to get any real help with this - is it s single or return journey, for instance and what time of day (and which day) is preferred?

Anyway, a quick search on Trainsplit shows that on October 11th, leaving Stoke at 10:33 and travelling via Derby the one way journey can be done with Advances for £31.90 for 2 people using a Two Together Railcard. Arrives in York at 13:30 and only the one change at Derby.

At similar time going from Stoke and via Manchester it can be done for £28.20 one way.
