A strange situation happened in Coventry and I’m curious to know what was going on.
My train from Leamington was delayed reaching Coventry because of some disruption there, this would’ve been around 11:40 and the Xc service that was supposed to call there before that skipped it.
They said it could’ve been to do with some problem with the signalling, but when I got to Coventry and asked one of the station staff he told me that the train had just been left on platform three, supposedly the Driver wanted to travel back up north but the train was turned around so they had to get a new driver which took about half an hour.
It all sounds a bit strange.

There was a track defect in the Hampton in Arden area.
The XC service you refer to (1M30) didn't skip Coventry but reversed in p4 to go back to Leamington and go forward via Solihull.
The train in p3 (9G11)couldn't go forward and eventually returned to Euston as 1B37 starting Coventry. The following Euston to Glasgow (9S55) service also reversed in p4 and returned to Rugby before heading via the Trent Valley to Stafford.

Was then able to depart Wilmslow on time at 1319 on its next working (to Bristol Temple Meads). Presume XC passengers that would normally have boarded at Manchester Piccadilly would have had chance to make it to Wilmslow. (Simple cross platform transfer necessary from platform 2 to platform 3 at Wilmslow).

seems that XC is doing a lot withWilmslow these days, they stopped there a couple of months ago when the lines around Manchester were being redeveloped.

Its for bus connections to Macclesfield and Stockport. They used to do driver swaps there but its happening at Stafford for the Greek St block.

Just goes to show how a problem in one part of the GB network (this one in the Coventry area) can potentially then adversely impact a subsequent service that isn't even routed that way!
