Anyone know what this RNIB device does?

Hi folks, this is something I've always noticed in Glasgow Queen Street and when travelling on the Glasgow-Edinburgh mainline, but never had the chance to take a picture before.

All the stations on that line have these black RNIB devices:

Every station has several of these on the platform and in waiting rooms etc. but I cant figure out the purpose. The ones at Linlithgow all have labels on them making reference to CCTV.

Can anyone shed any light on these?

It's part of the RNIB REACT system, which transmits location information to blind people via a hand-held fob.

That's a good idea! something that should definitely be introduced elsewhere in the country and I am certain it would be successful and popular
