Hello,
A few years ago someone inside Eurostar told me that the seats were attributed simply on 60 seat quotas for each price bracket.
That is clearly not true now (I've never been able to confirm that it ever was).
In addition, the new trains have a capacity of 900 seats compared to the 750 or thereabouts of the older ones.

Probably little truth in the 60 seats per quota. Quota levels boils down to day of the week, holidays, other planned events. And of course if loadings are slack or fill up very quickly then quotas may get readjusted.

So key thing book early and be as flexible as you can about days and times.

I did question the 60 seat algorithm at the time and asked if there was any change at holidays, busy times etc.
My interlocutor insisted that it really was a straight 60 seat per tranche, all that happens is that at busy times the cheap seats get sold very quickly.

I checked on Captain Train yesterday. The number of seats still left in the €84 tranche on one specific train tomorow was way over 60. Nearly 100.
