Any idea what these are?

They are popping up at all stations along the Leeds-Manchester route, both on the platform and at the bottom of stairs. They have a reflective strip round them and no obvious purpose! Any ideas?

They’re pretty standard smartcard reader posts, I think. But the head isn’t fitted yet.

It’s the stand for a smart card reader due to be installed along selected Northern routes.

Flexibile season tickets will be loaded onto a smart card and the user must tap in and tap out
