Any good rail alternatives for Brighton engineering works?

Hi all

Looking to travel back from Brighton to Liverpool Street on 27th October, but I see that it is a rail replacement bus service to Three Bridges. Not really a problem for myself but my elderly parents wouldn't be keen on the extra time taken and busy rail replacement buses.

I presume there are no services out of Brighton that weekend, so are there any other stations within a short taxi journey or bus ride from there that we can use to take a train back to London?

Half hourly rail service to Victoria via Littlehampton, as has been mentioned in earlier threads, I think it gets overtaken by the replacement bus, so mightn't show in planners by default:

Having checked again, NRES is showing the through trains, they take well over two hours.

The buses take 40-45 minutes maximum, they go out of Brighton Station to Preston Circus, up the A23 to Patcham then all the way up to Pease Pottage, then Brighton Road A23, Southgate Avenue, Hawth Avenue, Haslett Avenue East to reach Three Bridges Station. The only thing is the queues can be quite long at times, but staff can probably help your parents find a pair of seats together on a bus/coach.

I'd book on National Express service 201 to Gatwick Airport from Brighton Pool Valley and various other stops on the London Rd to Gatwick Airport takes 45 mins. xx36 on even hours.
About 10 mins to the platforms with travelators and escalators. Train to London Bridge, Bus or taxi to Liverpool Street.
Is Liverpool Street the final destination? If not it may be worth considering a trip along the Coastway to Ashford International Changing at Hampden Park or Eastbourne about 1 hr36 then HS1 to Stratford International 25 mins (requires split tickets) walk through Westfield/ DLR to Stratford main station for other destinations in East London/ Anglia.

Even if the train was slower, I'd still take it over the bus any day of the week...

The train via Littlehampton takes 2 hours to London from Brighton, however it's still much better than a miserable RRB.
