Hello, can anyone recommend some good freeware? I got a month's subscription for UKTrainsim.com a month or two back and of the stuff I attempted to install (Class 144, 150 and 153) they ALL came up with error's saying they're missing files or something of the sort, same thing with route's. I was following the readme's installation notes perfectly as well.

But does anyone know of any good add-ons which are free? Preferably not on UKTrainsim but still worth noting if they are :P

Dorset Coast is very good, as is BrisCard.

As for rolling stock, as long as the textures are 512*512 or better, and there's a proper cab for it (none of this prototypical rubbish) then download what you like. MT's FSF Networkers are excellent - would recommend those.

surprised to here of problems from UKTrainSim, did you post or search on the forums about the messages you were receiving? I have been using that site for about 3 years now without issue, cant imagine how much I have downloaded from there!

My recommendation would have been anything from UKtrainsim.

Never had a problem with anything I've downloaded that I've not been able to fix.

However if you don't get on well with the techy stuff, I'd recommend whichever of the CDs you fancy most. They are all excellent, and all work "out the box" so to speak.

Thames Mersey is a particularly amazing route, as is Dorset Coast (Both really extensive routes with tons of stock, by the same person.)

Thanks all :) I really can't understand what I'm doing wrong. I used to create and install aircraft, gmax models, in game modules and applications and re-textures for Flight Simulator 2004 and Flight Simulator X so its not as if I'm doing something simple wrong, I follow the instructions but it always seems to have a winge :/

ill get another months membership and tell you, its something like

File not found: something.sms, does that 3 times then asks if I want to continue.

Some routes require UK Finescale which also doesnt seem to work right as I installeda a route which required that, before hand ensuring i downloaded and correctly installed it for the route to not work still :(

You can continue from that error message, SMS will be sounds (the sounds the train uses are Payware and cannot be redistributed).
