DRS have quite a few left, managed to bump into 37423 at Ealing Broadway last week...
I think DBS may have got rid of theirs, but I'm not 100% sure though...

No DBS still have there's I think what ones I am not sure someone did tell me that they got a 37 out of storage ???

Well someone is bound to tell you the specifics soon but there are the follwing operators.
DRS;- Quite a few example including 37423.
DBS:- 37401 is the only runner at this moment in time but by the end of the week there shall be a second.
WCRC
nce again only a handful but still quite good set of good looking runners.
Network rail ;-These are actually class 97's but are numbered 301-304.
But please correct me if im wrong.

Well to be honest no one knows at this moment in time as there's the rail tour Saturday and with that two current non runners in line to be re-activated but the likely choice 406 but I believe the other is 670 but I think it';s a pure wait and see job.

Yes that is true but we cant say they are on front line service these days the only 37's paying there way as they were intended to are the 37/4's as the charter market was always the plan.
These days hardly any aged classes properly earn their keep the only example I can think of really is.
86's of which some have been doing the same freight liner workings for over 30 years but then again there are next to none doing any charter or passenger work accept 86259 and I suppose 101 (although it's a van).

37248 isn't owned by WCRC anymore I don't think....
I thought it was part owned by them and the Growler Group? or has it gone to full GG ownership?

37248 was never owned by WCRC, more like on long-term lease which has now ended, and 37248 is no longer part of the WCRC fleet.
Current WCRC operational fleet stands at 2 (37676 and 37706). 37685 is currently being worked on at Carnforth so safe to assume that will be the next 37 to join the WCRC fleet.

It is quite correct that 37248 is not (and never has been) owned by WCRC, although it was on loan to them till late last year. It is owned by Type Three Traction and is in the custodianship of The Growler Group.

...Or maybe 516? Will be one of them coming out shortly I would have thought as there is a PTR posh-ex which features a trip to Oban over the Easter weekend, unless 676 went single.
My gen concurs with yours then Mr R, and if its the same line we are on about would be nice to see a 37 there!

Yes forgot to add that 516 is also being worked on so it may well be the case that they both return at the same time or whichever is first, but they also have 47772 too as that went in after 47798 returned to traffic.
Will try and get an update sometime on which one is more likely to appear first, although can't see any of them coming out very shortly.
Seeing as Oban is RA5, that only leaves 676 as the only suitable WCRC 37 that's operational to do it. If 2 locos are required I hazard a guess it may end up being a DRS hire-in for the second loco but I've no idea.

I believe that most will be returned. I had an interesting conversation with some fellow photters yesterday afternoon while waiting for Tangmere; they said that WCRC are actually turning work away due to not having enough locos.
Obviously with the recession, scrap prices have fallen so there's little advantage in sendin locos for scrap.
