hello,

I noticed xc advertising drivers for Bristol.

Could anyone provide details of routes, links, hours, roster pattern, spare movements, salary, holiday and sickness and general terms please.

All the usual advise sought as I am interested but have heard they are permenantly a/r until the week before.

Am not a driver at Bristol but can do some digging for you. but what I do know is that Routes are Birmingham to Plymouth/Paignton (and diversions via Westbury, Swindon & The Golden Valley and I also think you sign via Kidderminster) Bristol - Cardiff (& Canton/Barton Hill depots) along with Cardiff to Cheltenham Via Lydney. Traction is 220, 221, HST and 170. Sundays are outside the working week but are committed Sundays (if you can't find cover you have to work it).

Thanks for your response. That a nice bit of route knowledge then. I do my booked Sundays anyway so no issues there. Do you know much about spare movements and how the roster works with cross country. I have heard you are permenantly a r until the week before.

Thanks again

As I said, I'm not sure as I'm not a driver but I'll have a chat with a few people and see what I can find out for you.

Excellent thanks for all the info. Must of been a sour grape telling me about the permanent spare jipe. Are you an x c driver minilad? In thinking of going for it but can’t decide if it’s the £££s luring me in. I’m more than happy at my current toc and depot and wouldn’t want to throw that away unless I’m 100% confident it was the right move.

It’s a tricky one....

The main drawback is that I’d have to commute or even move to Bristol and right now I’m walking distance to work.

Need to do the sums I guess as it may even work out in worse off every month.

Thanks again

I am. Drop me a DM with any specific questions or worries. Will see what I can do to answer as impartially as I can
Morning Minilad, I see from your post here you're a XC driver. Apologies for hijacking an old thread. I'm a qualified with another TOC, looking for a move to Bristol. I've been looking out for vacancies at Bristol for a while, but haven't seen any come up. Do you know if it's a big depot? And if they are likely to recruit anytime soon? Thanks

Bristol is a very closed shop.
