"Any Belgium Station"

Just a quick question:

A friend and I will be traveling on Eurostar to Brussels (single) in October, I was wondering if we went for the "Any Belgium Station" option would we be able to travel to say Bruges and return on the same day on the eurostar ticket, or would it only allow us to go to Bruges one way?

We are basically having a night in Brussels before taking a Thalys train to Paris the next day and then to back London from Paris.

if your thalys ticket has the any belgium station option included you could do that

basically your Eurostar any belgium station ticket allows you to make the trip London to Brussels on Eurostar and the trip from Brussels to any Belgian station (one-way!) on the day of your eurostar trip or the day after

if your Thalys ticket also has the any belgian station addition you can use it for your trip Any Belgian station to Brussels (the day before or the day of travel on your thalys ticket) and the thalys Brussels to Paris

I think for the sake of a few Euros I'd like to get us the supplement so we can see a bit more of Belgium and not just Brussels.

well Brussels is actually one of the ****tiest places you can go in Belgium, Antwerp, Bruges, Ghent and Leuven are much nicer

It has a gritty charm, not for everybody

Brussels has some lovely spots - it is by no means all gritty. In places it is positively elegant and attractive (around the Grand Place, most obviously, but also some of the districts near the EU quarter with many art deco buildings, for starters) But you definitely need to get the "pre-metro" from Brussel-Sud/Bruxelles-Midi a few stops to get out of the seedyness around the station.

Which is not to say that Belgium doesn't have many obviously delightful small towns as well...

I thought "Brugge" was the official name as it is in a Flemish speaking part of Belgium ie Flanders? Bruges (Brooges) is the French name for the town. Not that long ago (about 600 years or so?) to speak French there was tantamount to a death sentence
