So today me and PolarBear decided to do a bash on a Lancashire Day Ranger and get our moneys worth out of the ticket !.
As you cant start before 08.45 we went and had breakfast at the Wetherspoons on Lime St Station (and it was gorgeous !).
We started with the 08.56 to Manchester Victoria and changed there to get the 09.37 to Hebden Bridge arr Hebden Bridge 10.14 ( Normal cost of ticket £28.90).
Hebden Bridge 10.41 > Preston >11.39 (we were going to go to Clitheroe but it was cancelled) (Cost of ticket £7.00)
Preston 11.45 > Blackpool N > 12.11 (what a grim place ! - they opened the barriers with 2 minutes to departure !) (Cost of ticket £7.50)
Blackpool N 12.20 > Preston>12.42 (Cost of ticket £7.50)
Preston 12.57 > Carnforth 13.22 (Nice station !) (Cost of ticket £10.90)
Carnforth 13.42 > Lancaster > 13.52 (Cost of ticket £3.20)
Lancaster 14.28 > Manchester Piccadilly >15.27 (Cost of Ticket £9.50)
Manchester Piccadilly 15.47 > Wigan North Western > 16.19 (Cost of Ticket £6.20)
(We did plan to go back to Preston , then Preston to Ormskirk , then Ormskirk to Southport - we cancelled it when we realised it was a bustitution.)
Final train of the day for me was Wigan Wallgate 17.05 > Southport > 17.53 (Cost of ticket £8.40).

So according to my rough maths , if I had bought individual tickets the day would have cost £89.10 - compared to the cost of the Lancashire Day Ranger (£23.80), I think its a bargain !.

Thanks PolarBear for your company today, I really appreciated it !.

Seems like you got your money's worth - and presumably had somewhere warm to spend most of the day to boot!

I love it, when I get great value out of a rover and also reading what others have done with rovers.
With my Senior Card I've done loads of rovers this year.
Planning (in my head at the moment) a Wales 4 in 8 next April.

Hi Peter,
That was the idea for me & PolarBear on the day, to try and get to as many different places as we could and see as much of the area that was covered by the Rover as possible - I think we acheived that !.
We were planning to go from Blackpool N to Blackpool S by tram and get a train from Blackpool S but cancelled when PolarBear noticed it was a bustitution.
Enjoy your next trip !.
