Antique rail chair

Hi,
Spotted an old rail chair at a boot sale. It had MR and 1914 cast into the metal. I take it MR is Midland Railway, but is the 1914 a casting date or a pattern number. It looked like a bargain at £10 if it's a 100 years old!

Normally the manufacture date, there are some in Barton Mill with 1898 cast in them.

Here's one still in use on the Eden Valley Railway, photographed during spot re-sleepering work earlier this year.

It is not the oldest one on the line, either.

There are some at the Crich Tramway Museum marked L&SR - Leicester and Swannington Railway. They think it was 'Owd George being thrifty and re-using them in his quarry.
