Another Railfest?

I was reading about the past Railfest back in 2012. I was wandering if it was a one off or when is it going to happen again?

There was one in 2004. So there could be a reasonable expectation that there may be another one around 2020

They might do. There was one previously in 2004 which was also very good, although the 2012 one was marred by the rain during that abomination of a summer.

Although there was a ACORP Railfest at Darlington as well in 2006. Not strictly the same 'Railfest' and certainly not quite the same in scale of course. Wasn't there one at Norwich the year before?

Any major railway anniversaries coming up in the future?
These might give a clue.
Not events like the end of steam 1968 etc but more like Stockton + Darlington 200th etc

24th September 2005 brilliant day 87007 & 87019 a round trip each Norwich-London and back. 47832 and 33103 where on Norwich-Lowersoft & Geat Yarmouth shuttles on the Saturday and a pair of 20's the following day. Also a few locos in the sidings at Norwich station. And the Acorp stuff on the station concourse

I wouldn't bet on one any time soon as the last one made a loss by all accounts. Visitor numbers way below what was expected.

The last railfest lost quite a bit of money for the NRM so they may not be in too much of a hurry to repeat it anytime soon.

Whereas the A4 event seems to have been a roaring success

I imagine that's because it was a once in a life time opportunity that will never be repeated*. If they rely on the bulk of their collect at York (which isn't a bad thing mind) and invite a few locos and units from other places I fear it won't have the same pull as the Great Gathering did.
