Just read this entire thread during my lunch hour - classic stuff!

Definitely want to do one of these sorts of trips myself on day...though perhaps with a little less drama!

Not unless the Cardiff train is further delayed, at the mo you'll miss it by 3 min
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
May i suggest staying on the train your on to Taunton arr 17:04 & catch the Manchester XC at 17:21 to Bristol
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
You might just catch the Cardiff train at Westbury, NR has the it running 16min late, just departed from Salisbury 17 min late.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
This is going to be another tight connection, thankfully your train is on time for 16:22, but the Cardiff connection is delayed by 15-17 min due around 16:25

What time are you starting tomorrow, i may have an idea if you fancy it, of a trip to Bristol, Weymouth[or Exeter then to Waterloo], Waterloo, then either the 1722 or 1822 Padd-Grt Malvern or Wocester, which you can get the 21:15 from Gt Malvern or same train at 21:32 from Worcester SH home. If your not on the Sleeper

Well that was an eventful hour at bradford upon avon, a little girl went missing from the health centre by the station drafted into help walked up to avoncliff, as that was her last know direction,
eventually found, so got on the 1753 avoncliff to bristol train

Well done Sonic fella...glad the hunt worked out. All this has the makings of a classic "art movie"...sort of thing that appears at the little cinemas and attracts film buffs far and wide. Peter Mullin has to be in there somewhere, oh and the wonderful Brenda Blethyn...any takers out there, I'm useless at that sort of stuff. Mind, a Monsiour Hullet version might work.

Considering a turn down the GW main line? Falmouth worth a call...passing loop to be scratched. Try the Oddfellows pub in the centre if you have a spare half hour...only 10 mins from Town or Docks (cheese and biscuits on the bar after 4pm)

Re the earlier chat about the most Southern station...I think the recreated bit (all power to em) of the Helston branch wins just...TBC

Splendid thread.

Where is this recreated stretch of line? First time id heard of this branch, however Helston was further South than Penzance, yes.

Yes, the Southernmost halt is Truthill halt is about 1k further south than Penzance...Ha, sorry to be Mr Pedant!, but it brings some publicity to the venture. My PC has announced that it's low on virtual memory (well isn't everyone at sometime)

So cannot attach link. Just google "helston railway" for more info. I'm sure there's a vid of their recent operating day with one of those cut-down saddle tanks from Par...brilliant.

Sorry Sonic, totally off topic.

8 minutes at Nottingham, 5 minutes at East Croydon :)

Although 5 minutes at EC is pushing it IMO in rush hour.

im looking into a connection that pulls in on 5 and leaves from 4??

That should be fine :) It's literally up the ramp on 5/6, then back down it again on 3/4. Only reason I say it might be pushing it is the bridge gets VERY congested during rush hour, so doing 1-6, for example, might be a tad tricky.
