Another Problem on my ALR Journey

Actually i was telling the truth that time. It did leave late. 4mins late!!!!
There is plenty of slack time in timetable, plus it isnt even timetabled for 100mph. Even at the speeds it does it arrives 10 early at times

Cheers think Sleepers arrive early in order to get passengers into the proper sections & berths. Love to do the Sleeper one day, preferably EUS to FW.

Hope the op can get plenty of rest.

I might cheat a bit & get the bus from FW to Inverness, rather than going round Glasgow if i ever do that, & i'd try & do it round May or June.
BTW i thought Falmouth Docks Station is more southerly than Penzance

Think its just about Penzance. Thats what map seems to show anyway. Only just though.

Once did Aberdeen to FW in the day! Hopped off sleeper in Aberdeen, straight over platform onto EC service. Changed at Edinburgh, onto GQS, then up to FW. Sleeper back from FW that evening.

That seems strange as i'd have thought the crewe would change over at Edinburgh or Carlisle

nope lockerbie. so i've been told by the lounge car attendant. where i bought some irnbru. have not had that in ages ")

It'll be Lockerbie so they can work the Southbound train back down to London.
But then you have the Scottish crew already on the Southbound, and they will be working all the way through as per usual. 2 lots of crew on the southbound.
Unless the trains will literally cross at Lockerbie, in which case crews on Inv portions all swap over. Scots on Southbound work back north.

Doesnt make sense though. If its London crew, why dont they just work up to Inv, then back down tomorrow night, as is the norm.


Ah wait a min. Obviously to ensure they are in the right place after the right number of nights. The crew working northbound now will end tonight in London, which they should have done had they not been stuck in London last night. Got it. My brain is taking too long to function correctly!

And if someone had departed somewhere in South Wales on a later service and had been worried about a connection at Crewe to the Sleeper to Aviemore?

Would they have even thought to enlist the 9-10 pages of help (?) on this site?

Would the ATW crew, or external sources, have had any means to help them?

Would they have felt they were travelling on a National rail network?

My suggestion is 09:00 to Kyle will be a fab journey with the snow on the ground. Did the same over Christmas 2009. I managed to complete the move Sonic attempted, Cardiff - Crewe - Watford - Inverness then came back Kyle - Skye - Mallaig - Fort William and you make the sleeper again.

You will see loads of stags around Achnasheen.

No delays showing on Journeycheck for the sleeper, so presumably Sonic got there.

With the crew changing trains at Lockerbie, presumably that would have been a good photo opportunity of the Highland sleepers passing each other.
