A double-decker bus has been badly damaged after its top deck collided with a bus station in Jersey.

No passengers were onboard at the time and no-one was hurt in the collision, which happened as the vehicle entered Liberation Station on the Esplanade in St Helier at about 05.10 GMT.

The top deck of the bus was badly crumpled with broken windows. The Esplanade was closed between Castle Street and Conway Street so workers could clear away the debris.

..."A bus station" being "the" bus station. Presumably the driver was taking it there from the depot and was still half-asleep.
Last year the double deckers all called at stands in the street alongside and nothing but single deckers went in...

How can you presume that the driver "was still half-asleep" when you have no knowledge of the circumstances?

Because it was 5.10am? (and most of their services start up at about 6 or 7 am.)
I was guesing at a reason rather than just dismissing the driver as "a numpty" or "a muppet" - which seems to be the attitude of some in the "same bridge struck 3 times" thread.
