Another fares question

Hi guys,

Can anyone tell me the cheapest way of travelling

Huddersfield - Sheffield - Doncaster or Bentley

I have a WYPTE student concession card too which halves fares within the PTE boundary...

Do you have to visit Sheffield? If not, by far the cheapest option is via Wakefield and split your ticket at South Elmsall, this will save a lot of money compared to going via Sheffield.

If you want to visit Sheffield bear in mind you will be doubling back between Meadowhall and Sheffield, and Sheffield to Bentley won´t be within West Yorks at all. So you´d need a ticket from Huddersfield to the boundary, and either there to Bentley + Meadowhall-Sheffield or there to Sheffield and Sheffield to Bentley.

Sorry to bump the thread, but what is the best way of splitting my ticket with a WYPTE student card if I want to catch the direct Hudds - Sheff service (return)? What will the prices be?

Hudderfield - Sheffield route Not Leeds Anytime Day Return £10.10
Hudderfield - Sheffield route Not Leeds Off-Peak Day Return £7.40 (M-F: not before 0930)

With concessionary card (WYPTE METROPERMIT S):
Hudderfield - Denby Dale Anytime Day Return £1.90
Hudderfield - Denby Dale Off-Peak Day Return £1.25 (M-F: not before 0930)
Then without concessionary card:
Denby Dale - Sheffield Anytime Day Return £6.10
Denby Dale - Sheffield Off-Peak Day Return £4.60 (M-F: not before 0930)
Total £8 or £5.85.
Saving £2.10 or £1.55.
