I have a 1st advance ticket for Friday 22nd Jan on the 1730 Euston to Glasgow Central.
I had a look at this service to see if it is running today just out of curiosity and I find it is terminating at Carlisle. Then at Carlisle you could get the 2112 Scotrail train via Dumfries to get to Glasgow.
Virgin West Coast are saying people should use the ECML instead if going to Glasgow from London. Are they saying this mainly because it's quicker. I'm just getting visions of overcrowded ECML trains with WCML being half empty. I know going on WCML would take longer but I wonder if the journey would be more comfortable?
Just one last question. If I have use ECML instead, would I still be allowed to sit in 1st class (providing there is space)?
