However not a complicated as Fliss 2000

Advance return. due to KX being closed my journey to Grantham was
Chsshunt-Cambridge GA
Cambridge-Peterborough XC
Peter borough-Grantham LNER

All with dedicated times

Outward journey The XC leg was cancelled (No train Crew) and i arrived at Grantham 7 mins late
Return The XC was 8 mins late at Pboro, and arrived at Cambridge 2mins after my GA service to Cheshunt left
This resulted in a 40min delay in arrival at Cheshunt

Are these times within the scheme and if so to whom do i direct the claim?

TIA

A 7 minute late arrival on your outward journey isn't going to get any compensation. How come you were only 7 minutes late if the middle leg of your journey was cancelled?

The 40 minute late arrival on your return is worth claiming for. You claim from XC as the operator who delayed you, and caused you to miss the connection. If you claim from one of the other operators, they should pass it to XC, but this would unnecessarily delay your claim.

7 minutes isn’t in the scheme. The outward does not qualify.

The return does qualify and your claim is with XC for the return.

In which case you claim both from XC, when you say “advance return” I am guessing you mean separate advance single tickets rather than any kind of return ticket, so two separate claims.

Even if it were a return ticket, it would still be two separate claims.

I suppose that this is one of the results of a multiple TOC journey
Booked as a return, but 6 separate single tickets

Still off the Cross country with the request

Thanks for all the help and explanations

For clarity, that's the result of purchasing through a platform that allows you to buy split tickets. You can buy return tickets from Cheshunt to Grantham which would have given you just one physical (or digital) ticket for the outbound and one for the return. However it'll no doubt have been cheaper to buy split tickets.

This was purchased via the GA webite I just put in from and to and the times reqd and thats is what i got back

I did look at a split ticketing site once and gave up, so i just go the the first TOC site that i am travelling on and leave it to them.. Although i think they were a liitle bit optimistic about a 5min connection at Cambridge on gthe way back. as yo have to use the footbridge from P6 to P7 .i doubt if someone less mobile than me would have made it in time .even more so if the XC service was delayed by a few minutes
As on both out and return journeys the XC service was either cancelled, or late running resulting in a 60 delay in arriving at Grantham, on the outbound leg, and a 9 minute late arrival at Cambridge resulting in a late arrival of 31 minutes at Cheshunt, this looks like a double delay claim

Well, that's interesting that they didn't just sell you one ticket for each journey, then. I believe the 5 minute connection must be standard issue, though this feels tight as you say.

I agree with other members that you should request delay repay for both the outbound and return journeys.

XC should have the slogan 'the company who will always let you down'.

I am about to submit the claim for the Grantham-Cheshunt leg
arr dep TOC
Te times shown were Grantham 1633 ( LNER)
Peterborough 1652 1716 (XC)
Cambridge 1815 1820 (GA)
Cheshunt 1921

The actaul times as per realtime trains were

Grantham 1633
Peterborough 1652 1726
Cambridge 1824 1903
Cheshunt 1953

Am i correct that although the actual xc delay in arriving was only 4mins. as a result i had to get the next available GA train to Cambridge which should have sarrived at 1951 but was two mins late ,thus making the total trip dealy at 32 mins at which point the claim process kicks in or because the total delay 10mins XC and 2 mins GA is less than 30 mins it is inadmissable?

Apologies for the skewing of the clumns of arr and dep times and TOC .They were ok prior to posting

Individual delay amounts are irrelevant, the only thing that matters is your actual final arrival time compared to your booked arrival time (a 32 minute delay, as you say). You claim from the operator which caused you to be delayed in the first instance, Cross Country in your case.
Submit your multiple ticket itinerary you got when you bought the tickets to substantiate your claim, otherwise explain the combination of tickets and times (as you’ve done here).
